Secretariat Profile In Greatness #113

Price: from$9.95

This fantastic portrait photograph was taken in the Saratoga infield as Secretariat was being prepped in the infield at Saratoga Race Course prior to the 1973 Whitney Handicap. A race in which he was upset by longshot Onion at the "Graveyard of the Favorites". His Belmont Stakes world record of 2:24 flat was superior to any Belmont Stakes running performance by at least 10 lengths. Secretariat's three year old season was the greatest run by any horse racing champion ever. During the 1973 Triple Crown season, Secretariat was on the cover of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. This was the zenith of horse racing prominence in the eyes of the American public.Secretariat was ridden by Ron Turcotte and trained by Lucien Laurin. Gallery of Champions copyright water mark does not appear on the actual photographs.
