Affirmed 1978 Kentucky Derby #406 Color

Horse racing history will always record the battle of rivals Affirmed and Alydar amongst it's most fabled equine duels. These two champions went at each other before, during and after the Triple Crown like no other race horses. They faced each other ten times, with Affirmed the victor in seven. but Alydar's ferocity in each match up not only validated his legacy, but Affirmed's as well. This beautiful photo shows Affirmed driving to the wire in the 1978 Kentucky Derby at historic Churchill Downs. Affirmed was ridden by Steve Cauthen and trained by Laz Barrera.
