A beautiful portrait photograph of “Big Red” taken at Claiborne Farm in 1987. Secretariat had a striking look about him. His Belmont Stakes world record of 2:24 flat was superior to any Belmont Stakes running performance by at least 10 lengths. Secretariat’s three year old season was the greatest run by any horse racing champion ever. During the 1973 Triple Crown season, Secretariat was on the cover of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. This was the zenith of horse racing prominence in the eyes of the American public. Secretariat was ridden by Ron Turcotte and trained by Lucien Laurin. Gallery of Champions copyright water mark does not appear on the actual photographs.
